Romeo
- Sex: Male
- DOB: Apr 2012
- Coat: Red and White, medium to long hair
- Weight: 50 lbs
- Activity Level: Very active
Romeo has been at a rural northeast Arkansas kill-shelter for a couple of months now. Not much is known of Romeo’s past. He was adopted earlier this year and chained in yard and got away. He was returned to the kill-shelter.
Romeo is full of energy and playful. He is good with adults and children. He was in the population pen with other dogs and the animal control officer stated that he did well and was not aggressive with other dogs. As far as cats, we have yet to check that out, but we hope to soon. Romeo does well on a leash. He gets a little nervous with kennels, but seems to calm down and do okay.
Romeo is neutered and has a current rabies vaccination. Romeo has been in the shelter so long he just needs some love and attention.
Romeo is in Pocahontas, AR at the Pocahontas Animal Shelter. For more information please contact George at cowboygeorge929@yahoo.com or 870-892-1390.

Buddy
- Sex: Male
- DOB: Nov 2009
- Coat: Black and White, long hair
- Weight: 55 lbs
- Activity Level: active, loves to run and jump in pond; loves snow
My mother has a dog named Buddy (Border Collie mix) that she can no longer care for. She is elderly and just doesn't have the energy to give that he deserves. She would like to find him a good home, and someone suggested that she contact CBCR.
He just showed up on my mother's door step about 3 years ago, and she became attached to him. The Vet guessed that he was about three months old then, so Buddy is 3 years ½ years old. He, unfortunately, was hit by a truck in February 2012 and suffered a broken pelvis. He has since healed and wants to run and play, but unfortunately my mother does not have a fence around her yard, so she has to keep him in a dog pen most of the time. However, she does walk him daily. We know he would be much happier if he were able to run around and get more exercise. Before Buddy had his accident we allowed him to play freely in the yard and run and play in the neighbor’s pond. Also, he would chase deer and unfortunately, cars. That is why he needs a fenced in yard in which to play. He usually plays well with other dogs, but will chase deer and cats if given the opportunity.
Buddy sleeps on my mother’s enclosed porch at night and is “porch” trained. Buddy is trained to sit on command and will extend his paw to shake hands/paws when prompted. He is neutered and up-to-date with all shots. He is very loving around most people and just wants some attention and affection.
Buddy is in Youngsville, NC. For more information please contact Evelyn at rlucy74@aol.com or 919-495-0399.

Beck
- Sex: Male
- DOB: April 2012
- Coat: Black and White, Short Coatt
- Weight: 50 lbs
- Activity Level: See Below
Beck joined our family when he was 8 weeks old and immediately became a very loved family member. We began the socialization process right away. He went everywhere with us and met lots of new people. We also worked with him with obedience/trick training. He is able to sit, stay, wait, take-it, give a paw, down and roll over. He also (most of the time) sits and waits by the door, letting us go thru first. He loves to learn and he learns quickly. He is incredibly affectionate towards his people and loves to be in the same room with us. He is also great around other dogs, loves to have play dates. He attends Dog Days doggy day care a couple of times a week to get some extra play time with his furry friends. Beck has also participated in several formal obedience classes and has does well in them. He loves to travel in the car, sitting up watching where we are going. He does not get carsick, is house trained, walks well on a leash and is not afraid of thunder as long as he is inside
Beck does have a special need though; he is very slow to warm up to new people in his home. He has never bitten anyone but has not had the chance to. It usually takes him at least two days to warm up to new people in the home. Because of this strange behavior, Beck has not really been introduced to children. When he is out and about and can avoid new people/children he does that unless they come towards him. When someone gets too close he barks and is hair stands up. We have noticed though that when he is with other dogs, this behavior towards people seems to disappear.
Giving up Beck to a more suitable home is very difficult for us. But that is how much we love him. He has never been abused or traumatized and has only had positive reinforcement training. We have taken him to a behavior specialist that suggested Prozac-that is the one thing we did not try with Beck. We would rather get him into a home where he would not need Prozac. A home with a fenced big yard or lots of open space to run. Another dog or two, no children and an owner familiar with border collies and patient with his special need.
Activity Level: Loves to play outside defending a soccer ball, chasing birds or fetching sticks. Will play until you stop but when you stop will come sit and chill at your feet. Inside will relax in the same room with you. Every now and then he will bring a toy to you to play with for a short period, then he lies down again. He is active when there is something to do but is not the typical Border collie and will relax too!
For more information, please contact Keith in Greensboro, NC at klearman@triad.rr.com.

Libby
- Sex: Female
- DOB: February 2012
- Coat: short black and white coat
- Weight: 48 lbs
- Activity Level: Medium
Libby is a hound/lab mix. She is a sweet and happy girl. Libby was rescued from the Nash County Animal Shelter. She is house-trained, crate-trained and does well on a leash, although she does even better using the gentle leader. At first our dog did not like Libby, but after several weeks of adjustment, he has become Libby’s best friend. Libby has met several other dogs and plays nicely with them as well. We do not know how she is with cats. She likes Kongs and tug of war. Libby is spayed and up to date on her immunizations. She is heartworm negative. She loves spending time outdoors, receiving tummy rubs, and giving kisses. She shows no signs of food aggression. Libby would be a great addition to any family who has plenty of time to spend with her. She is intelligent and has quickly caught on to routines around their house. She is very respectful of boundaries and would enjoy a fenced in yard. Libby lives in Raleigh, NC.
Although we have fostered before, this is our first independent foster. We are asking a $75 re-homing fee to help offset her surgery and immunizations costs. We are more than happy to answer any questions about Libby. Click to see Libby's video.
Libby is in Raleigh, NC. To meet Libby and learn more about her, send an email to Brooks at friendlyfosterdogs@gmail.com.

Sterling
- Sex: Female
- DOB: April 2007
- Coat: short black coat with white on her belly and muzzle, cropped tail
- Weight: 30 lbs
- Activity Level: Timid, but with high energy
Sterling came to us as a puppy at 15 weeks, very timid and shy. She has blossomed into a loving dog that would love nothing more than to snuggle with you all the time. She has grown up with 2 other dogs which she plays well with.
Sterling does have a bite history; in 2010 she snapped at me over a raw hide. We used a training program recommended by our veterinarian called “Training the perfect dog” which worked really well for her, and I took her on additional runs. She transformed into a more trusting dog. We did not have any other bite issues until recently over brushing her teeth, unfortunately I do not have the time to spend with her now to really work with her; we have a 19 month old son, and we worry that she may bite him, and we want to avoid this from happening.
I know that Sterling would make a wonderful companion for someone, or a family that has the time to work with her a little more and to take her on walks/runs (she is afraid of our stroller, therefore, I can’t take her when I take my son out for walks.) She walks well on a leash, is house trained and crate trained, good with other dogs, good snuggler, and alerts you when strangers come to the house.
Sterling is in Campobello, SC. For more information please contact Jennifer at poochfred@bellsouth.net.

Buddy
- Sex: Male
- DOB: November 2009
- Coat: Black and White, Semi-Rough Coatt
- Weight: 56 lbs
- Activity Level: High Energy
Buddy was a rescue puppy from the NC Humane Society. He loves children; he loves people and will run to certain individuals in our complex. He's friendly and house broken.
He's a very affectionate dog, very energetic and loves to run and afraid of thunder. Buddy is alert, athletic and will herd you on occasions. He loves children however he can easily knock over smaller children
I have never had Buddy in a situation with cats so I don’t have an idea on his aggression toward the felines. But he does like to chase squirrels and birds.
I am moving and unfortunately I cannot take Buddy to my new destination.
For more information, please contact James in Charlotte, NC at jameshboose@yahoo.com or Erichia at erichialewis@yahoo.com or 614.657.5707.

Havasu
- Sex: Female (spayed)
- DOB: August 2006
- Coat: Black and White, Medium Coat
- Weight: 38-40 lbs
- Activity Level: Very Active
Havasu is FS, current on all vaccines, on monthly flea / heart worm prevention, and in good health - although I do need to take her into work for a dental prophy.
She is a great pet in so many ways and I am failing her as a pet parent. In the past 3 1/2 years she has gone from a relatively low key, albeit high energy, BC to a neurotic unhappy dog the vast majority of the time.
Her strengths are a sweet disposition, generally good on commands including come, down, sit, stay & kennel. She plays very well w/her Yorkie housemate despite the obvious size difference (she's at approximately 38-40 lb & he is 5.5 lb), and she is appropriately respectful of her feline housemate. She loves to play fetch (mainly with stuffed animals) and enjoys tug of war a lot. She is good with children – although her experience with them is somewhat limited.
Her weaknesses are progressive storm phobia (including windy days - and since we live on an island there are many of these) and leash aggression. The former is heart breaking and I feel would be significantly mitigated by being in a home where there is someone at home most of the day / time. The latter might be improved by being in a household with a man or in a situation where she was not required to walk on leash for exercise.
I have tried all of the techniques and medications that I know to help improve Havasu's quality of life. The one thing that would likely be the best thing for her is the one thing I cannot give her. Due to my schedule I am gone from home anywhere between 12 and 14 hours a day. Unfortunately I am not able to take her to work with me on a daily basis - if I could, I would.
Havasu is in Topsail Beach, NC. If you are interested in adopting Havasu, please complete the CBCR On Line Application found under on the Available Dogs drop down menu. For more information please contact Stephanie at flika6300@yahoo.com.

Teddy
- Sex: Male (neutered)
- DOB: approximately 2 years old
- Coat: Black and White, medium coat
- Weight: 50 lbs
- Activity Level: Unk
Teddy is a handsome male Border Collie mix who is about 2 years old. He is neutered, on monthly flea and heartworm preventatives and fully vaccinated.
Teddy does good with other dogs; he has not been tested with cats. He is bigger then a regular border collie and weighs around 50 lbs.
Teddy loves people and children, he is very gentle with the 5 year old child in his foster home. He is calm and careful in the house, likes to watch tv, and does great in a crate.
He does not mind being an outside dog, but needs a good enclosure he can not dig out of. Teddy walks well on a leash, and is a fast learner.
Teddy is being fostered in Centerville, TN, about an hour west of Nashville. If you are interested in adopting Teddy, or would like more information on him, please contact the Hickman Humane Society, 1-866-304-3352 or contact his foster, Arenda, at adnera@hotmail.com.

Sadie
- Sex: Female (spayed)
- DOB: December 2011
- Coat: Gold and White, Medium Coat
- Weight: 49 lbs
- Activity Level: Very Active
Sadie is a stunning dog – golden retriever/border collie mix. We rescued her from Wake County animal shelter and have fostered her ever since. She is a loving eager to please dog with a lot of energy. She has some herding tendencies and is a little bossy with our 4 yr old. She also loves to chase cats. She likely would prefer a home without either.
Sadie has boundless energy and is very talented with the Frisbee. She likely would be a great agility candidate. Her favorite thing is to fetch tennis balls. She clearly needs to be "worked" every day and becomes restless when she does not have enough to do.
She is anxious around strangers and other dogs especially if you try to take her for a walk. She needs more training in this regard. She will "sit", "lay down" and "stay" (sometimes) on command. She loves to sleep on her dog bed every night but also does well in a crate if left alone.
Sadie is a very special dog and will be a great companion to an active engaged owner. She is up to date with all shots, flea control and heart worm medicine.
Sadie is being fostered in Hillsborough, NC. For more information please contact Amos at amospedersen@hotmail.com or 919.785.4215.

Dobie
- Sex: Male (neutered)
- DOB: May 2012
- Coat: Red and Tan, Short Coat
- Weight: 70 lbs
- Activity Level: Medium - has energetic play time but settles down quickly
Dobie is a 10 month old neutered male red Doberman. He ended up in rescue after being hit by a car. Due to the severity and location of the fracture, his left hind leg was amputated. He has adapted beautifully to his tripod status.
He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. He does resource guard food and “good treats”, so he currently gets fed in a crate. He is interested in cats and will chase them but will stop with a verbal correction. He is house trained and crate trained. He is still a PUPPY and he does chew. He is happiest when he is with people, although he will play for quite a while with his foster sisters before seeking out humans. He is alert and playful but will settle down for quiet time especially if given a Nylabone.
He is current on his vaccines and is heartworm negative. Because of his age and size he would do best in a home without small children.
Dobie is being fostered in Cary, NC. For more information please contact Mary at ruby2shoe94@yahoo.com or 919.467.8755.

Annie
- Sex: Female (spayed)
- DOB: January 2011
- Coat: Brown Merle, Medium/Long Coat
- Weight: 32 lbs
- Activity Level: High Energy at heart outdoors, quiet indoors
Annie is a stunning girl, possible Finnish Spitz mix with medium long, brown merle colored fur. She was pulled from certain death from Gaston Animal Control in Dallas, NC on January 4.
Annie is very loving and friendly with my husband and myself, and would enjoy playing with older children. She loves to give great big hugs to her favorite people, cuddle on the couch and play ball outside.
She would enjoy living in a home with another playful, high energy dog. Right now she goes out in the fenced in back yard with our old fat Cocker Spaniel and runs circles around her trying to get her to play. Indoors they play together and share toys well.
She can take a tub of dog toys and play and entertain herself for an hour, always checking in with her people to see if she is doing the right thing.
She would probably not be good with cats, we introduced her to ours last weekend and neither pet really enjoyed each other’s company. UPDATE: Annie seems to be OK with cats now, loves to visit their section of the house, but does not hunt or chase them.
She is afraid of new, unknown situations, and can be shy at times, but will follow a loving, patient person anywhere if they have a lead on her and convince her that going in a certain direction is her own idea.
She is already spayed, up to date on vaccines, and is housetrained and crate trained.
Please contact me if you can provide a loving home for this special girl.
Annie is being fostered near Charlotte, NC. For more information please contact Monica at mbfirefly@gmail.com.

Roy
- Sex: Male (Intact)
- DOB: Fall 2001
- Coat: Black & White, Rough Coat
- Weight: 55 lbs
- Activity Level: High Energy and Activity Level
Roy is a loving high energy male that belonged to my husband. My husband died 3 years ago of cancer. Roy lives on a farm and runs daily to the creek and through the woods to my brother-in-law's house. He runs and plays with my brother-in-law's dog.
He enjoys a vet "approved" chew each morning. He will sit at the back door until he gets his treat. Two years ago he was treated for heartworms. Since that time, he has been on monthly heartworm preventative.
He is good with other dogs. He is frightened by thunder and lighting. Three years ago, during a storm, he ran away and was lost for 3 weeks. I always let him inside if it is storming. He gets medication during storms.
He has not been around cats but does chase birds if they are near him. He will sit and watch me cut grass as if protecting me. He would show his teeth and growl at a man that used to help my husband. This same man robbed me after my husband died.
Roy loves to be inside but usually stays outside without a fence. A Jack Russell lives inside with me.
I am moving into town at the end of January and I want Roy to be loved and free of fenced in life each day.
Roy knows "walk," "supper," "lie down," "good dog," and "stay." He is very alert and protective, and very much wants to please.
For more information, please contact Rebecca in Kings Mountain, NC at championjack@bellsouth.net, or 704.739.3079, 704.472.2572.

Connor
- Sex: Male
- DOB: October 2003
- Coat: Black & White, Rough Coat
- Weight: 45 lbs
- Activity Level: Low inside and Active Outside
Conner is a wonderful Border Collie who needs a loyal owner. I adopted Conner six years ago from a rescue center and they are no longer operational. He has matured into a wonderful companion who prefers to be by my side. He needs a home with no children.
Conner would make a great house dog with a small outside area for relief. He prefers to have a private area inside to relax, with a blanket or bed in a corner of the room or under a table. He loves to play with toys inside.
He is extremely intelligent and loving creature. Conner loves to take rides to the park and doesn't care to interact with other dogs, so he may prefer to be an only dog.
For more information, please contact Gregg in Midland, NC at GreggByrum@gmail.com.
