Rikki a.k.a. Cricket is a 7 month old Mix we rescued from an overcrowded shelter. She is a happy pup who is full of energy! She loves to go on walks, swims and boat rides and would make a great running partner as well. Cricket adores people, especially children, but her exuberant greeting style is not well suited for toddler-sized kids. She is equally excited about other dogs and loves to play although a small or very timid dog might also be overwhelmed by her energy. She lives with a cat and plays with him on a daily basis, if she were to go to a new home with a cat we expect she would try to chase not because of prey drive but because she would be excited to play with her new buddy. She does not have a mean bone in her body. Cricket is very smart and is currently taking basic obedience and puppy classes. She excels in class and soaks up new information like a sponge. She is highly motivated by food and toys and is just a joy to train. A strong swimmer, she fearlessly paddles out into lakes and pools. Things we still work on is a bit more impulse control. When overly excited she still jumps on people and grabs arms or legs or anything she can reach although she has improved a lot since we first got her. She is a collector of all things in the household and can be destructive if left unsupervised too long with objects that are not meant to be chewed by a strong pair of jaws. She is crate trained and settles nicely with a chew toy. She walks well on a leash and loves to ride in the car. Her ideal new home would be an active household with lots of training, walks or runs, and play time. A fenced-in yard is a must. Ideally she would have a playful dog buddy who can match her energy. She will be such a fun partner for any and all adventures!
