Biography
Charlie is an intelligent border collie/labrador mix. He is smart and learns new patterns and behaviors very easily. Because of this, training can go both ways with him. He can learn new tricks and commands in a matter of minutes. He is also stubborn and will choose to disobey for attention.
He needs someone that can provide daily stimulation. He gets bored easily and likes to practice tricks, take walks, and play with his owner. When he does get the daily attention that he needs, he does well. He does like his daily naps and sleeps well at night. He will also need a large fenced in yard to play on a daily basis.
He will do best in a home with older children and no cats. Because he is so intelligent and aware of his surroundings, he can get easily startled. He will not snip out of aggression. Younger children would not be good with him as they would not understand to be gentle and not scare him. He does live with another dog now and does fine with her. They like to play, and he is not aggressive with her. He will need time to meet and get acclimated to a new environment and other dogs. But with time, he is fine with those that he knows.
He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and is neutered. He is a great dog that will be missed dearly. We are not looking to just get rid of him but would like to find a home that would be best for him and for another family or individual.
Does the dog have any medical issues?
No
Does the dog have any history of aggression such as growling, lunging, snapping, or biting any adult or child?
Yes
Please explain the aggression toward people.
Easily startled by others. He has snapped at young children because he did not know they were behind him and was scared.
Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals?
Yes
Please explain the aggression toward other animals.
He has not bitten another animal, but he takes time to get used to his surroundings. Once he knows a dog, he is fine and will play with them.
What is the reason for re-homing?
We have young children in our home often. Charlie is not aggressive, but he gets easily startled and has growled/snapped. I think he would enjoy a home where he can receive daily stimulation without the stress of unknowns from young children.
