Maevyn is a very cool, active and smart border collie. She knows many tricks, obedience skills such as focus heeling (with me) and she’s been going to herding lessons and absolutely loves it. She is extremely sweet to people she knows and loves to cuddle after she’s had a good amount of energy released. As of right now she lives with 3 other dogs and loves them so she might be able to live in a home with other dogs, but she is reactive and aggressive to other dogs she doesn’t know. Ever since I got her when she was 3 months almost 4 months she’s been terrified of new people and has growled out of fear at approaching people. She does get warmed up to people after some time and then is very sweet. She is also scared of new busy places with many people and cars so a quiet place would suit her best. Again she is a working border collie with big herding instincts (her pedigree has all worked on cattle) so not for everyone and needs a very active home that can fulfill her needs. Her behavioral problems as I have stated are most likely genetic because she’s so young and has always had them, she did work a little with a professional trainer but her behavior did not get any better. I’m very sad she didn’t work out for me because I’m looking for a sporting dog that I can take everywhere with me and she’d be impossible to reach any of my goals.

Does the dog have any medical issues?

Does the dog have any history of aggression such as growling, lunging, snapping, or biting any adult or child?

Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals?
Yes. She is reactive towards dogs, barking, lunging, hackles up as passing dogs if they are close. She has attacked a unprovoked dog as well, the dog was not harmed but she was trying to bite.

What is the reason for re-homing?
I got a border collie specifically for sports including agility, fly ball, dock diving and more. I also wanted a dog I could take everywhere with me even to college and Maevyn is just not that dog. Because of her dog aggression and human fearfulness she’d be impossible to reach any of my goals or things I wanted to do with her.
