Storm is a sweet girl who loves butt scratches and hanging out in the same room as you but not necessarily cuddling. She was adopted from a shelter at about 8 weeks old and has lived with other dogs her whole life. She is trained on several commands, is very treat and food motivated, and lives in a home with a dog door and fenced in yard. She is trusted alone in the house as long as you don’t leave food out she can reach. She can jump over a baby gate. She is very intelligent and loves long walks or hikes on a leash. She is shy around kids, but is calm and patient with the toddler in our home and with our nephews. She is friendly and submissive to other dogs at dog parks when off leash. She sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed. She has a very strong prey drive and has caught over 50 moles, 20 squirrels, and several birds in our backyard. She’s never tried Barn Hunt but seems like a great candidate. She’s never met a cat but due to the squirrel hunting is likely incompatible with cats. She isn’t great off leash due to the prey drive.

Storm’s greatest flaw is her nervousness in new situations and barking. She does not like loud city sounds and gets nervous in new and bustling places. When she’s nervous, she doesn’t always listen to commands. She also barks at anyone who comes near our house and enters the front door. She also barks at unexpected sounds. She does quickly warm up to people who enter our home, but barks very intensely first. She also barks at other dogs on a leash and tugs as they pass.

Storm needs a family who is patient with her barking and has the time to work on her nervousness. She is a great, intelligent family dog otherwise who might make a fantastic barn hunt dog!

Does the dog have any medical issues?

Does the dog have any history of aggression such as growling, lunging, snapping, or biting any adult or child?

Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals?
Yes. On a leash, she barks at passing dogs. Off leash, she is friendly and submissive towards other dogs.

What is the reason for re-homing?
We are a growing family and no longer have the time to work on Storm’s nervous behaviors. Her barking is also very disruptive for our toddler and future newborn. Storm would be happier in a home that can be more focused on her.
